Callum Hughes

Actor/Musician - Press and Marketing Manager

Callum trained at Rose Bruford College where he specialised in American Theatre Arts. There he played many roles including Scott in Christopher Shinn's What Didn't Happen; Andy and Young Man in There's a City in my Mind and Kevin in Daivd Mamet's All Men are Whores. Callum also trained in Texas where he lived for a year, studying and performing in productions such as Georg Buchner's Woyzeck and working on the Festival of New American Playwrights with Jack Heifner and  Barbara Lebow.

Callum plays a number of instruments, mainly Drums, Piano and Guitar but can be found trying his hand at Cello, Accordion and any instruments left unattended for too long. 

Callum is a member of the award winning Cut to the chaseā€¦ ensemble of actor-musicians at the Queen's Theatre Hornchurch where his roles have included Blind Pew, Smollett in Chris Bond's Treasure Island; Adam in As You Like It; Nana, Tootles, Jukes in Vicky Ireland's Peter Pan, Jan in Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince; Dandini in Cinderella; Illusions in Chris Bond's The Curious Incident of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde; Tony in John Godber's Up 'n' Under and Chris in The Young Ones.

Other roles include: Chris in Waiting for Wonderland, Etcetera Theatre, Camden; Resident musician in feminist theatre company Shady Dolls; Indalecio, Inside the Earth (rehearsed reading), New Diorama Theatre.

Writer

Callum is also a writer and has had several plays produced in full both in The US and in London. Previous works includeCoffee and John, A Silent Mouth and A Life In Monochrome. Most recently Callum penned the script for a new adaptation of The Little Mermaid which ran for 5 weeks at Riverside Studios Christmas 2014 - 15 - produced by Blind Tiger - a company of which Callum is also a founding member and producer.  

Tutor

As a tutor Callum works for Rose Bruford teaching Acting Through Song at their Summer School, has previously led workshops on song-writing and performance on the Young Person's Theatre course and has worked with 2nd year degree Students as co-musical director on a sight specific production of Casanova. He can also be found guest-lecturing at Bath Spa university
